Who We Are

Laura Groothuis
Laura grew up in Middle Tennessee where she watched her parents, a pastor and a nurse, use their gifts to serve others. Laura went on to receive Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Recreational Therapy from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. While at UT, Laura volunteered as a camp counselor, activity leader, and eventually camp director at several camps for kids with disabilities. After graduating, Laura was led to a position in activities at an assisted living and memory care community where her passion for working with seniors was solidified. She has since worked in various roles including activities coordinator, marketing director, and senior placement specialist since 2011. Laura desires to not only be a guide through the world of senior care, but a source of emotional support and encouragement for the seniors and families she is grateful to serve.
Jen Schaefer
Originally from South Carolina, Jen loves calling Chattanooga home. She graduated from Furman University with a business degree and served in college ministry for ten years. Jen received her Master’s of Counseling from Westminster Seminary where she met her wonderful husband and started a family. Over the last decade, Jen has helped two family members to cope with dementia. She has seen firsthand the support that exists (and doesn’t exist) as families navigate caring for their loved ones, and ultimately move into assisted living. Jen wants to walk alongside seniors and their families as a compassionate advisor, helping them navigate what can be a stressful and emotional time.
