Our Mission is to serve seniors in life’s transitions with wisdom and compassion while affirming their dignity.

Why We Do This

Laura Groothuis

Laura grew up in Middle Tennessee where she watched her parents, a pastor and a nurse, use their gifts to serve others. Laura went on to receive Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Recreational Therapy from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. While at UT, Laura volunteered as a camp counselor, activity leader, and eventually camp director at several camps for kids with disabilities. After graduating, Laura was led to a position in activities at an assisted living and memory care community where her passion for working with seniors was solidified. She has since worked in various roles including activities coordinator, marketing director, and senior placement specialist since 2011. She has lived in Chattanooga with her loving husband and two amazing kids since 2016 and loves calling this city home. Laura desires to not only be a guide through the world of senior care, but a source of emotional support and encouragement for the seniors and families she is grateful to serve.

Jen Schaefer

Jen discovered her passion for working with seniors while supporting her father-in-law, Bill, through his decline with a dementia-related illness. Witnessing the challenges Bill faced with his mobility, social life, and overall abilities opened Jen's eyes to the vulnerabilities seniors can experience, inspiring her to dedicate her career to serving them. Jen and Laura's friendship began at church, sparked by conversations about Bill. When Jen's husband encouraged her to approach Laura about starting a business together, it was a natural fit.

Jen holds a degree in Business Administration from Furman University and a Master's in Counseling from Westminster Seminary. She previously worked in administration and college ministry and is also a practicing Biblical Counselor. Jen is married to James, and they have two children and a large dog named Chester. She is honored to guide families through transitions into senior living, aspiring to be a wise counselor and a comforting source of support.
